A number of new Maud Lewis designs are now available and we have revived some that have not been available for several years. Many new kits of various sizes are now available. Some are on our website. Others are listed.
We offer a variety of classes and workshops for rug hooking. Doug is an accredited teacher of the McGown Guild who has taught in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Ontario, and the US. . His work has been showcased in the Eye See you project which travelled in the United States for a 3 years. His work that was part of the Tarot Card project in the US lasted 7 years is now over. This was a seven year tour in the US and Canada. He has taught a variety of workshops at home and in Canada and USA and at rug schools in both countries. These have included but not limited to fine shading of flowers , pictorials and orientals, wide cut shading of florals and pictorials, scrolls, leaves, rendition of Maud Lewis paintings, mandalas and dying techniques, etc.
Doug continues to upgrade his McGown certification by taking the teachers` workshops in the US every year as well as teaching other McGown teachers at those workshops. Last year, he taught a fine shaded pictorial of a tall ship at sea. Doug has taught a wide variety of workshops including fine shading, Maud Lewis, large flowers, mandalas, magical landscapes, Grenfell, orientals and dying. His students have hooked beautiful oriental rugs, fine flower shaded rugs, leaves, and pictorials. In 2018, he taught Maud Lewis at a wide variety of schools.
Classes are held most Wednesdays from September to the end of November and from January until the end of May. If you have not been attending these classes, please phone 902-445-4644 to ensure availability. These are open classes where you take a beginner course from us or you purchase a new pattern to hook or you get help with one on which you are already working.
